Public Consulting Group, Inc. (PCG) is seeking an Accounting Specialist. This position is part of a large multi-year contract with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF), the agency that manages foster care and other child welfare activities in the Commonwealth. PCG provides revenue management services to DCF including management of child beneficiary accounts for Social Security benefits. The Accounting Specialist will manage account activities for a caseload of Social Security beneficiaries who are in DCF care. This position requires frequent contact with state and federal regulatory agencies and consumer custodians.

 

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Perform all account management activities accurately and timely, including: account reconciliation, cash management for assigned accounts, and processing requests for funds.
  • Complete all federal and state reports and requests accurately and timely.
  • Ensure that accounts are closed and funds returned to the Social Security Administration in a timely fashion.
  • Provide clear communication as needed to client representatives and affiliate agencies.
  • Monitor performance standard measurements for Social Security activities.
  • Participate in state and federal audit inquiries.
  • Maintain positive working relationship with the client and colleagues.
  • Foster an attitude of information sharing and open discussion among colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities.
  • Ability to understand and interpret federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with general accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Excellent working knowledge of Excel and familiarity with Access/database software is essential.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience.

Location:

 

  • Hybrid – regular presence in Boston, MA office is required
